It's that famous early 2000s location where the burlesque craze exploded onto the local nightlife stage via Ivan Kane's infamous Forty Deuce. After a few stumbles, the location alas gets a worthy occupant with Pour Vous, a sexy Paris-theme champagne lounge by the owner of two of LA's more unique drinking spots including La Descarga that's one of the few bars in LA to require a jacket on gents during busier weekends. Pour Vous is a more proletariat affair, however, with guests advised to dress their best and perhaps avoid the more obvious staples of local hipster fashion. Inside, the former cabaret club has been restructured with worn, varathane bar that looks like it came from an 1st Arrondissement watering hole complete with brocade wallpaper and Victorian champagne coupes filled with minimum spillage by sexy, buttoned-up barmen in white shirts and monochromatic ties.
Tips
Groups of eight or more can book a private table that makes for swifter entrance and more personalized service on prime Friday and Saturday nights.
Last Word
While that steampunk meets tattooed hairdresser crowd still prevails in this very hip corner of LA nightlife, the bar is a hit even if the fickle doorman keeps you waiting at the door on busier weekend nights.
